I think the ferns and or rocks would made a good background for small objects like insects, lizards, or small animals. They would also be a great background filler for some flowers. You could even add some color to the flower to help the stand out from the background.

Sand stone cliff. There isn’t a corresponding blog. This video shows how I did the background for my Big Horned Sheep artwork. Here’s the artwork that the sandstone texture came from. Even looking at the artwork, my eye can see that the texture has some tree bark qualities about it.
