I think the ferns and or rocks would made a good background for small objects like insects, lizards, or small animals. They would also be a great background filler for some flowers.  You could even add some color to the flower to help the stand out from the background.

Maple Leaves

This artwork explains how to create maple leaves.  The method used can be used on any type of leaf.  Maple Leaves 

The tutorial also discusses two different methods of adding color.  One method uses and airbrush, and the other colored pencil.    

You could add these leaves to a picture frame, border around artwork, etc.   

The maple trees artwork is good for backgrounds.  The tutorial will explain how to create a basic maple tree.  Then it goes on to explain how to add additional filler trees.  Maple Trees

This realistic mountain scene is based on Mt Shuksan; an actual mountain found in Washington state.  The tutorial explains how to create the jagged mountains and the snow found around the peaks.  Realistic Mountain

The moonlit tree is a beginner friendly project.  This project is a creative example of how you can incorporate embossing into your artwork.  My use of the term embossing means that you are creating engraved designs that get revealed when you burn over them.  Moonlit tree

This composite image shows a weathered post.  This post makes a perfect perch for birds, and other small animals.

This tutorial explains how to create this winter scene.  Winter Scene
