Time is almost up

This is a quick post to let you know that this Thursday, January 15th, 2026 is the last day I’m accepting submissions for the 5th annual viewer art video.

All skill levels are welcome in this video celebration of pyrography.  I’ve gotten a number of submissions already (thank you).  The subject matter and skill levels are very diverse.  That’s what makes the video so special.   You will see artist who have skill levels similar to your own.  This statement is true even if you are very new to pyrography.   Some of the artwork you will look at and think, “I can do that.”  Other artwork you will look at and think, “I wish I could do that.” The variety is one of the main reasons I enjoy the video.

One thing I want to mention is how common it is to feel like your artwork isn’t good enough to be in a video for anyone to see.   A lot of the artist who have submitted photos have felt the same way.  How do I know?  They told me.

Despite their fears, they still sent a photo.  I’m so glad they did because their skill levels were so much better than they give themselves credit for.   Don’t let fear hold you back!

To participate:

1) Take a good photo of your artwork.   Preferably something you created in 2025, but it doesn’t have to be.

2) How you want your name to appear in the video.   If you have a YouTube channel, provide your channel name and I will include it in the video.  I will not include websites because I feel like I should verify that the website is safe.  Quite truthfully, I don’t want to spend time doing that.

3) Send your photo and name to:  PyrographyContest@gmail.com

Don’t let the email address deceive you, this is not a contest.  I don’t use the provided email very often, so it doesn’t get a lot of emails.  That means it is easier for me to keep track of the submissions.

I look forward to seeing your artwork!

Brenda
