Website Update – July 2025

Greetings my fellow pyro!   Just a quick blog updating you on my progress of fixing my website.

First, a brief history for those of you not aware of the problem.   I had an excess inodes error.  This is something I had never heard of before, let along known there was a limit.   Quite truthfully I could have lived out the remainder of my life without knowing what the heck an inode was!

Anyways, my website host threatened to shut down my site if I didn’t get it fixed.  During the course of trying to fix the problem, I accidently deleted most of my images.

To make matters worse, my website host moved my website to slow server.  I couldn’t upload more than 2 images before it timed out.   Plus, I would get errors if the images exceeded a certain size.  Most of my images exceeded the new size limit.  In fact, I actually wonder if the host moving my site is why I lost images.  I could have swore they were still there even after I got the inodes error fixed.

Regardless, I got tired of fighting the old host, so I moved my website to a new host.  There are a lot of benefits with the new host, like increased inode limits, a faster database, no restrictions on an images size, better php options, etc.  Unfortunately, there are some down sides too, like increased cost and limited image storage.    Overall, the benefits of the new host outweigh the negatives.

Since the move, I have been restoring images to blogs.  This takes time because I have to re-read the blog, and reduce the number of photos it originally had. Most of my tutorial blogs had between 100 – 200 images.  My goal is to reduce the images by half.

I’ve been working on the most popular blogs first.  I’m trying to restore 2-5 blogs a week.  Since I have written over 200 blogs, it will take time to fix them all.   Also, some of my unpopular blogs won’t be restore.  Instead they will be deleted.

As for patterns.  I have restored a lot of them.   The majority of the pattern and tutorial pages show my artwork along with the the corresponding pattern.  If available, I also provide a link to the YouTube tutorial.  As I get a corresponding blog fixed, I update the appropriate page.

That said, if there is a blog you’d like the images restored to, then leave a comment and let me know.   Thank you for your continued patience as I get things fixed up.
